Week 9 - Christmas week!

Congratulations on reaching the final week of the Running Sisters Training Plan. This week you’ll likely be running between 4 and 5 kms each session! What a great achievement 🙌.

If you're not at week 9 yet - keep up the great work and keep progressing.

If you haven't started running yet - we hope you find this plan helpful and maybe it's what you need to start your running journey in 2022!

Tomorrow we begin Week 8, which is the second last week of our Running Sisters Training Plan. Congratulations if you have made it to Week 8!

You will have noticed that throughout the plan every run has started and finished with a 5 minute walk. This warmup and cool down works for us. How have you found it?

We have some longer runs to tick off this week. Don’t be daunted - you are STRONG and you can do hard things l! Sometimes it helps to have some positive self talk or mantras when you run. Always remember if running was easy, everyone would run!

It would be great if some of the more experienced runners who follow Running Sisters could share your running mantras!

Learning to run is exciting and so rewarding, but it can be daunting!

One reason we’re sharing the training plan week by week is that we don’t want you to be overwhelmed.

I remember looking ahead when I was training to run a half marathon distance for the first time in 2020. I looked ahead and began to doubt myself. My coach encouraged me just to look ahead one week. it was great advice and I was surprised at how when the time came it all seemed so much more achievable.

Another important tip we want to share this week is not to compare yourself with others. Our personal running journey is our own. There’s no reason to feel inadequate - every runner has a beginning!

This week's sessions are 30 minutes, with plenty of walking and a 5 minute run.
